My Travel Journey

I am Merica Monamodi, the founder of Trip 'n Dip. I was born and raised in Johannesburg, South Africa.

I was blessed to hop onto my first flight to Namibia at the age of 12 on a family vacation. Although I have a faint memory of that trip, I sit here with a recollection of how amazing it made me feel as an explorative young girl. This heartwarming reminiscence marked the inception of my many travels around the world.

Years later, I travelled to Thailand through an agency. Traveling to a foreign country with an imaginative and explorative spirit and not knowing the language can be a little tricky, however, I fell in love with the idea of being in a place where no one knows me and I had no choice but to make it all work out! I’ve since learned about the varied cultures around the world and I believe we all need to travel outside of South Africa for a similar experience.

I later endured a brave endeavour of moving to South Korea to teach English. During my two year stay there, I audaciously curated my travels to China, Philippines, Hong Kong, Vietnam and Malaysia. Having very little knowledge of curating a trip, I made some mistakes along the way that cost me money and time. This was all a part of learning

My Travel Journey

Upon my return to South Africa, I knew I wanted to do something even more exciting. So, I dared myself to travel to 30 countries before turning 30. I am now, in just over 18 months, closer to achieving my goal as I have officially travelled to 26 countries namely South Africa, Namibia, Thailand, South Korea, China, Philippines, Vietnam, Malaysia, Kenya, Tanzania, UAE, Egypt, USA, Mozambique, Turkey, Portugal, Spain, France, Switzerland, Germany, Netherlands, Belgium, Ireland, Indonesia, Singapore and Seychelles.

I am now venturing on a new pursuit to help and guide travel enthusiasts, like myself, to experience well- curated and bespoke trips around the world.
